PIM is a collaborative initiative between General Practice Queensland (GPQ) and Queensland Health.
It aims to improve linkages between public mental health services and general practice through the implementation of the Queensland Framework for Primary Mental Health Care.
In Central Queensland a partnership exists between GPQ, Capricornia Division of General Practice and Queensland Health Mental Health Services
PIM strives to achieve the “ideal” primary mental health care system to meet consumer needs by:
• improving linkages through partnerships
• clarifying roles and responsibilities within the mental health network
• ensuring local service provision has a consumer and carer focus
• increasing understanding and use of available resources and initiatives
• Better integration between primary health care and public mental health services
• Optimal care for people living with a mental illness
• Less people falling through service gaps
