The Capricornia Division of General Practice Immunisation Program provides assistance to all General Practices within the region with the aim of increasing immunisation coverage rates and improving the quality of vaccination services. To achieve this, the Division works with a variety of local organisations regarding the safety and quality of immunisation service delivery.
Our focus is on promoting the aims of the National Immunisation Program and the General Practice Immunisation Incentives Scheme, vaccine management (cold chain), data quality and management as well as improving immunisation rates amongst ATSI and ‘hard to reach’ groups.
Providing practitioners with clear guidance on vaccination, including vaccination procedures, the Australian Standard Vaccination Schedule, catch-up vaccination, vaccination for special risk groups and reporting requirements for adverse events and the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register. Also provides an accessible summary of vaccine preventable diseases in Australia.
This document outlines the basic principles for safe vaccine management. The technology for vaccine storage is changing rapidly. If you are purchasing equipment, it is recommended that you thoroughly investigate the item. The material in this document may help you with your investigations.
