Greenfrog - Buderoo Dreaming

This painting depicts the Greenfrog which is Buderoo in the local Darumbal clan language in the Rockhampton region. The Buderoo is also symbolic in that it is a totem of the local Darumbal tribe. The Greenfrog is resting on a lily pad in a billabong which is situated by the Fitzroy River. The billabong comes about because of when the Monsoon season comes across Australia dropping heaps of rain and causing floods. After the floods subside there are billabongs and waterholes throughout the flood plains where frogs come to feed and breed.
