The Capricornia Division of General Practice and the Central Queensland Rural Division of General Practice are pleased to have been approved to form the Medicare Local in Central Queensland, officially operating from 1 July 2012.

Prior to 1 July 2012, a range of transition activities will need to take place to ensure the smooth establishment of CQ Medicare Local and the transition of staff and resources from the Divisions to the new organisation.

In order to facilitate the transition and establishment, this exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer, a chance for an inspirational leader to develop and implement strategy and vision, drive cultural change and provide leadership through innovation and experience.

CQ Medicare Local will work alongside hospital networks, public and private health providers and community based organisations to better integrate services and to identify gaps in healthcare delivery at a local level.

We are seeking a results-oriented, highly respected and commercially savvy CEO with superb interpersonal and leadership skills that will enable the development of strong and effective relationships externally with public and private stakeholders and community; and internally with the Board of Management and staff.

Your complex problem-solving and clear thinking capacity, integrity, transparent management style, work ethic and proven performance in planning, directing and monitoring multi-disciplinary functions with attention to detail will be key attributes, as well as a "can do" attitude.

Your emotional intelligence will be reflected in your history of achievements through collaboration, teamwork and community engagement. The successful appointee will be able to point to a highly successful career in government or the private sector preferably within the health sector.

Care Coordinator – Indigenous Health

The Capricornia Division of General Practice (the Division) is a member based non-profit organisation which provides professional support to General Practitioners (GPs) in the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Gladstone areas.

The Division has a new position under the Closing The Gap (CTG) initiative for a Part Time Care Coordinator located in Gladstone. Being a newly created position, there is the potential to be creative and innovative and shape the workload to meet local identified need in the primary health care landscape.

The Care Coordinator (CTG), using their Registered Nursing qualifications and experience, will work collaboratively with patients, general practitioners, general practice/Community-Controlled Health Service staff and a broad range of other relevant government/non-government services. Working collaboratively with these health partners, you will facilitate the provision of appropriate multidisciplinary care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
